It's great to be part of this loosely organized, spontaneous, and fun group. I love seeing young kids and grandmas dancing to the same music. I've learned dances from a variety of countries, each one offering something special.

Directions to St. James

St. James Church is located in Ferndale. The gym where we dance is in the school on the other side of the block from the church. Enter your address to get directions from Mapquest (the Mapquest directions get you to the church, but you still have to continue around the back of the church as described in steps 5 - 7 below).

1. From I-696 exit Woodward Avenue south
2. Go south to Nine Mile Rd. (about 1-1/4 miles)
3. Continue past Nine Mile Road to the next light, which is Pearson (St. James Church is on the SW corner)
4. Turn RIGHT (west)
5. Go around behind the church and in between the two buildings
6. There is a parking lot between the buildings; park there
7. You'll see the tall windows of the gym from the parking lot; you can enter the gym from there

(If you wish you can park on Hazelhurst, which is the next street south of Pearson, but the dance club on the corner uses the parking lot on that side for valet parking, so parking can be a problem.)

Dancing runs from 8:30 to 11:30PM on Fridays ($7/$6 members)

From the Lodge (M-10)

1. Exit Warren Avenue and turn east towards the Detroit Cultural Center
2. At Woodward, turn LEFT
3. Go 2 blocks to Kirby (DIA on the right)
4. Turn RIGHT (east)
5. The International Institute is at the end of the block on the left side; turn LEFT into the parking lot.

Directions to the Senior Community Center in Royal Oak

Leo Mahany / Harold Meininger Senior Community Center is at 3500 Marais Avenue, 2 blocks north of 13 Mile Rd. between Crooks and Livernois (Main) in Royal Oak.

1. From Woodward Avenue and 13 Mile Rd. (Northwood shopping center), go east on 13 Mile Rd.
2. Go about 1 mile to Crooks
3. Continue past Crooks for 1/2 mile to the light; turn LEFT (north) onto Marais
4. Pass one street; the Senior Center is on the right (a large high school is on the left)
5. Turn RIGHT into the parking lot

Monday dancing runs from 8-10PM ($3). The center's phone number is 248-246-3900.

From the North (including northern Detroit suburbs):

1. Take US-23 south (from Detroit area take M-14 west to US-23 south).
2. Continue south past Ann Arbor. Continue past I-94. Very soon there will be an exit to US-12.
3. Exit at US-12 and head west.
4. Drive through Saline (about 10 miles) and then on to Clinton (about 10 more miles).
5. Drive through Clinton and after about 2 miles you will reach Sheridan Road (if you reach M-52 you've gone too far).
6. Turn right (north) onto Sheridan and go about 1½ miles. If you cross a bridge you've gone too far.
7. The entrance to the camp will be on your right.

From the East (Detroit or Canada):

1. Take I-94 west to US-23 south.
2. Very soon after getting on to US-23 there will be an exit to US-12.
3. Exit at US-12 and head west.
4. Drive through Saline (about 10 miles) and then on to Clinton (about 10 more miles).
5. Drive through Clinton and after about 2 miles you will reach Sheridan Road (if you reach M-52 you've gone too far).
6. Turn right (north) onto Sheridan and go about 1½ miles. If you cross a bridge you've gone too far.
7. The entrance to the camp will be on your right.

From the West (Chicago):

1. Take I-94 and exit M-52 south.
2. Drive through the town of Manchester to US-12 (about 20 miles).
3. Turn left (east) onto US-12.
4. Very soon after the turn you'll find Sheridan Road.
5. Turn left (north) onto Sheridan and go about 1½ miles. If you cross a bridge you've gone too far.
6. The entrance to the camp will be on your right.

From the South (Toledo):

1. Take US-23 north to the exit to US-12.
2. Exit at US-12 and head west.
3. Drive through Saline (about 10 miles) and then on to Clinton (about 10 more miles).
